Players take on the roles of kings from powerful clans, all striving to become the greatest emperor in the land. Bharat offers a rich, dynamic experience in which every turn counts. Players must choose to advance the Sun or Moon cycle, affecting not only their own strategy but the game's overall pace. This core mechanism drives deep interaction as players battle for kingdoms, seek favor through rituals, and compete in marriage contests. The Dharma track adds a unique layer of competition and can even decide tied outcomes. With multiple paths to victory, from military conquest and political influence to divine blessings and strategic pilgrimages, the game rewards diverse playstyles and ensures high replayability.

You win by having the most victory points by the end of the game. You gain victory points for consolidating kingdoms, for holding the greatest rituals, and you may get extra victory points at the end of the game by becoming the Maharaja in a region.
During the game you will:
- Expand and consolidate power on foreign kingdoms by sending princes to campaings
- Form lasting alliances with the great empires by sending princes to marriage contests, where they may prove their worth to be chosen by princesses.
- Earn the blessings of gods by sending princes to make devotional offerings and to hold great rituals.
- Practice yoga to remain focused, to gain mastery over your life energies and to get enlightened - Train your princes to become great warriors and help you achieve your ambitions.
- Spend and refill your life energies to do more stuff.
