Mindennek van kezdete, még a történelem halálának is. Amikor két kezdő Csillagkereső, az energikus Dae és a komor Chk Chk, megdöbbentő felfedezést tesz, feltárnak egy kapcsolatot a galaxis egyik legjelentősebb eseményével: a Résszel és a mostanra elveszett Golarion világ eltűnésével. A rejtélybe burkolózó Rés azzal végződött, hogy a kozmoszban élő halandók hirtelen, figyelmeztetés vagy magyarázat nélkül emlékeket fosztottak meg elméjükből. Az android Tyrcell a Rés másnapján a Absalom Station-on, a Csillagkereső környezetének középpontjában ébred. Emlékeik kitörölésével küzdenek az állomáson uralkodó káosz ellen, miközben túlélnek és emlékektől megzavart szövetségeseik koalícióját építik. Mindeközben más erők is felébrednek a kozmikus esemény után, és saját terveket szőnek. Az élőhalott médiamogultól, Zo!-tól, aki igyekszik hasznot húzni az eseményből, a Pokollovagokként ismert ördögi szolgákig, nincs hiány opportunistákból, ahogy a galaxis felfordul! A két történet találkozik, amikor a Csillagkereső ügynökök és Tyrcell, évszázadok választják el őket egymástól, felfedeznek egy ajándékot, amelyet Yaraesa, a tudás és a tudomány istennője hagyott a halandókra. Ez a titok feltárhatja a Rés igazságát, de az eseményt követő napokban a születő Hellknight Order of the Eclipse semmi sem állíthatja meg, hogy pontosan ellenőrizze az üzenet mibenlétét.
